Literature Text
I was passing the people around me
Not hearing what they had to say
I flew past the corners of the city
Never stopping to turn around
Or to realize where I was
I was blind to the colors around me
Deaf to the noises
I was running down the streets
For days or maybe weeks, months, years...
And then I stopped
And you were there
And then the colors returned to the world
And I heard the voices of the people around me
All this time I was looking for you
Only you
Not hearing what they had to say
I flew past the corners of the city
Never stopping to turn around
Or to realize where I was
I was blind to the colors around me
Deaf to the noises
I was running down the streets
For days or maybe weeks, months, years...
And then I stopped
And you were there
And then the colors returned to the world
And I heard the voices of the people around me
All this time I was looking for you
Only you

Far from Perfect
I cannot stand hypocrisy,
though I know I'm guilty of it.
I care nothing for dishonesty,
but I've told a lie or two.
I do not condone betrayal,
yet I've set a few fires
along the way.
I would never blame another
if the blame was mine to take.
My intention was never to hurt you,
but it happened just the same.
I do not expect forgiveness,
I doubt I could give it
either way.
I would never claim perfection,
though I am a perfectionist.
It means I never finish anything,
because I'm never happy
with how it ends.
So I guess you could say
I'm far from perfect.
I would certainly agree.
At least I'm honest about it,
just as sure as the word

More
It's the way her hair falls over her eyes
It's the way you know shes empty to the core inside
It's how her knees hit the floor
How she holds her head shaking for something more
As she walks down that street her shadow tips and dips
The truth is more is never enough
What is more to you? What is not enough? Tell her.
Tell the lonely girl with her knees on the floor holding her head begging for more

those three words
i know them. you know them.
we have known them since we were born,
have heard them whispered a thousand times
by mothers to their children --
but we will not say it.
i see you and those three words clog in my throat.
your fists banged at the door. 'baby,' you said. 'baby, believe me, i'd do anything for you' i closed my eyes, standing with my back to the wood, holding the necklace you gave me for my birthday in my hands. i wanted to believe you so badly it made my eyes ache, but i couldn't. i couldn't.
'when she started...when she...i didn't know what to do. baby, you know me. i wouldn't hurt you'
your words were honey and i could fee
